Iowa Tamil Association (ITA) - Who are we?

  • Iowa Tamil Association is primarily focused on promotion of Tamil language(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_language), heritage and culture. We conduct events to promote Tamil language among residents of Iowa.
  • Iowa Tamil Association conducts events to promote Tamil language among residents of Iowa. Main events are Pongal, Chithirai Thiruvizha, Deepa Thiruvizha. Other events for traditional sporting and family assemblies are also planned.
  • ITA conducts a weekend school that teaches Tamil to the residents of Des Moines. You can find further details about the school at https://itp.iowatamilassociation.org/. Currently 95 students in Des Moines are enrolled in our school.

How can you support ITA?

    • For 2023-2024, Iowa Tamil Association is planning to host 3 major events
      • Deepavali (Lights) festival in November - 2023.
      • Pongal (Harvest) festival on January - 2024.
      • Chithirai (Spring) festival in April - 2024.
      • ITA Picnic - 2024
    • Iowa Tamil Association enjoys loyal membership of Tamil speaking families in Iowa. Our events are well attended with 300+ participants per event.
    • We would like to extend a warm invitation to sponsors to support our June 2023 - May 2024 events. We have come up with a Simpler Cost Structure to provide a variety of benefits to promote the brands of our sponsors during our events, Ads on our website and our printed calendars.
  • Donate to support our charitable causes
    • Iowa Tamil Association conducts charity drives periodically and donates towards charitable causes locally and globally. Please donate towards these causes
